Travel to Basel for Euro 2008

Location: Basel, Switzerland

Get There By Air:

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (airport code: BSL) is an international airport in the very literal sense. It serves not just Basel, but also Mulhouse (France) and Freiburg (Germany).

It’s also jointly operated by France and Switzerland.

There are even French and Swiss sides to the airport, and you’ll need to go through customs to get from one to the other. There’s also an international lounge zone where you’re technically in two countries at once.

Get There By Train:

Basel Train Station (Basel Bahnhof) is similarly international, located at the border between France, Germany and Switzerland. The station is served by Cisalpino, ICE and TGV East trains, so you should have no problem getting there at pace. For example, you can now go from Paris to Basel in just three and a half hours.

Basel is located in the north-west of Switzerland along the river Rhine, and bordered by Germany to the north-east and France to the north-west.

There’s a major (and quirky) airport nearby, excellent railway links and a great public transport system of buses and trams. And the distances between stadium, city center and fan zones are all signposted and walkable.
